Meadow Brook’s Garden Club Kicks Off Season

April showers bring May flowers… and the Meadow Brook Garden Club back to The Hall! In addition to MBGC kicking off their weekly Tuesday gardening session on Tuesday, April 10,  there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with the club.

New this year,  the Meadow Brook Naturalists are a Meadow Brook Hall volunteer group dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the woodland areas around The Hall.  The Naturalists are looking for volunteers to help remove invasive plants and plant native trees, shrubs and perennials. Workdays are on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. til noon. Call 248-364-6210 or email  for more information.

At the Meadow Brook Garden Club Perennial Plant Sale, a large variety of Michigan grown plants, including many from the Meadow Brook Hall gardens, will be available at reasonable prices.  All plants are donated and proceeds benefit the gardens at Meadow Brook Hall. Join us on Thursday, May 17, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Meadow Brook Greenhouse Plant Sale is on May 17 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and  May 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This sale features annual flowers, vegetables and herbs.  Follow the signs on campus, as this sale takes place at the greenhouse. Please call 248-364-6171 for more information.

The Garden Club will hold an open house at The Hall on June 19 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  This will give prospective members an opportunity to experience the joy of gardening at Meadow Brook.

Monthly lectures programs on various gardening techniques and topics are sponsored by the MBGC and are open to the public. For more information on the presenters and pricing, please click here.
