Dodge Brothers exhibit receives new set of wheels

Before becoming automotive pioneers, John and Horace Dodge built bicycles with their friend and business partner, Frederick Evans. Evans’ great-grandson, Cameron J. Evans, his wife Susan Jezewski Evans and their children are long-time friends of Meadow Brook Hall as well as aficionados of bicycle history. They loaned a 1896 Evans & Dodge ladies’ bicycle and an 1899 National Cycle bicycle (an off branch of the Evans & Dodge bicycle company) to Meadow Brook Hall for our guests to enjoy for five years. These are two of only three known examples of these bicycles in the United States. Thank you to the Evans family!
