For Brie and Sudhir Kumar, romance is not just for a special occasion. The pair recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary and have built a life that celebrates small moments, simple surprises and the beauty of creating a shared family and life.

One week later, Sudhir, a mechanical engineer, sent Brie, a Technology Business Analyst, flowers at work for her birthday. The following year he proposed with rose petals and just one year later, they celebrated the second anniversary of their first date with a fairy tale wedding at Meadow Brook Hall.

Combining dreams (Brie) and project management (Sudhir), the couple planned a beautiful multicultural wedding celebration in the ballroom at Meadow Brook.

Wedding in Meadow Brook's ballroom“The experience of planning a wedding was made infinitely easier by the staff at Meadow Brook,” Brie said.

“Our event planner Stephanie (Pini) Pratt was always available to answer our questions and ensure our day went off without a hitch. We are so grateful to the staff at Meadow Brook for everything they did to give us a fairy tale wedding.”

Both were drawn to The Hall’s elegant and historic ambiance, along with its location near hotels for their many out-of-town guests.

They hosted a beautiful dinner in the Christopher Wren Dining Room, which features original carved plaster ceilings, original artwork and incredible views.

“We fell in love with the grounds and the beautifully maintained antique artifacts,” Brie said. “The historical tours offered to our guests were an added bonus!”

Another romantic touch included an excerpt from the poem “Unending Love” in their vows, which Sudhir gifted to Brie on their one-year anniversary. “This was something that meant a lot to both of us,” she said.

A shared love of music and dancing led to a special moment with the final dance of the night. Brie and Sudhir swirled across a mostly cleared ballroom floor to “City of Stars” from the La La Land soundtrack, a song filled with memories and meaning for the couple.

We remember this day fondly as a celebration of love with our friends and family; some family we were meeting after many years.”

All in all, their wedding was a dream come true for the Canton couple. Now, one year later, they are enjoying married life and the romance of every day.
