Docent & Host Volunteer Details

Volunteer docents and hosts are often the face of the Meadow Brook Hall, greeting and interacting with guests on tours and events. This community of volunteers are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the stories behind this National Historic Landmark.

Volunteer docents are certified tour guides who have been trained with extensive knowledge on the history of Meadow Brook Hall and the Dodge-Wilson family. Docents lead guided tours for public and private groups, as well as during specialty events. Docents at Meadow Brook are invited to exclusive training sessions for specialty tours, like the Flashlight Tours. Join today to become a certified docent at a National Historical Landmark.

Hosts greet and welcome visitors to self-guided tours. special events, weddings, and during the Holidays at Meadow Brook. Hosts offer historical interpretation of the rooms, family, and artifacts along the touring route, as well as answer frequently asked questions and give directions.

Docents and hosts receive training and schedule their own hours through our digital volunteer platform.
