Matilda Dodge Wilson’s commitment to the highest standards of materials and craftsmanship at Meadow Brook Hall ensured that every detail, from grand features to the smallest elements like the hardware, was meticulously perfected, reflecting her exceptional eye for design and style. Door hardware accounts for the most notable and unforeseen costs incurred in the construction of the building– an incredible $50,000 – an expense that Alfred Wilson still complained about some 30 years later.
