The Rock Garden and English Walled Gardens
The Rock Garden and English Walled Gardens, both supremely beautiful garden wedding venues, sit charmingly amongst the West Gardens of the estate.
The Rock Garden, one of the largest of its kind in Michigan, features an outcropping of sandstone rocks that are carefully positioned onto the hillside. Planted into their crevices are cascading drifts of perennials, alpine species and dwarf conifers.
The English Walled Garden also provides season-long color from an assorted variety of perennials. A natural stone and brick path creates a lovely aisle walkway, with steps and a platform leading up into the Tea House – offering an elevated location to exchange vows. An elegant marble statue completes the space.
The Pegasus Garden
The Pegasus Garden, which features the iconic bronze Colt Pegasus sculpture and tiled fountain, is traditionally known as the Breakfast Garden because of its location off the Breakfast Room. This elegant space features a beautifully manicured lawn and enclosed brick walls, and it is one of the most popular spots for an outdoor wedding in Michigan.
The dramatic fountain – one of the most distinct elements of the estate – will be on until the ceremony begins, when your bridal party will process down a flagstone walkway. White garden chairs will set theater style on either side.
The Rose Garden
Constructed in 1949, Meadow Brook’s Rose Garden is laid out in a unique oval shape, adapted from English landscape architect Arthur Davidson’s original 1928 landscape master plan for the estate. It is the perfect stroll from the East Breakfast Garden and Pegasus Fountain, as guests will pass along an arbor-lined stone path through our enchanting sunken garden.
The Rose Garden is also a favorite location for a couple’s first look.
The Loggia Terrace
Stationed south of the mansion, the Loggia Terrace receives a glorious amount of sunlight and affords views of the lush golf course operated by Oakland University. The terrace grass and stone areas make for an ideal cocktail hour location for Meadow Brook weddings, as it is especially beautiful at sunset.
Garden Tent
From April through December, Meadow Brook’s sophisticated white garden tent can host up to 300 guests for outdoor weddings in Michigan.
Positioned on the expanse of lawn south of the Pegasus Garden, the 60’ x 120’ all-weather structure features a beautiful white draped ceiling with immense windows lining – allowing for beautiful views. This large wedding venue also has a stage with a white façade, wood dance floor and gorgeous chandelier lighting that can be dimmed to a romantic glow for dinner and dancing. A brick and slate walkway from the Loggia Terrace provide easy and scenic access between the historic mansion and Garden Tent.
Interior temperature control options are available.
Rain Site
In the event of rain, weddings at Meadow Brook Hall will be held in our two-story Gothic-inspired ballroom. It seats 100 guests facing the fireplace or 150 facing the beautiful, second story-stained glass windows.
Book NowCelebrate indoors, in stunning style.
Our Great Estate, often referred to as an American castle, is home to 110 rooms and 88,000 square feet of historic splendor. It’s what makes us not just a beautiful wedding venue… but it’s a storybook destination where fairytales come true and memories are made to last a lifetime.
The Great Hall
Everyone knows first impressions are important. And when your guests enter the front gates of our mansion wedding venue, they’ll marvel at the size, scope and Tudor-revival detailing of the Great Hall. This luxurious space is beautiful location for a strolling cocktail hour or for guests to simply gather and be entertained.
The Sun Porch
With sunlight pouring through its floor-to-ceiling windows, the Sun Porch is positioned to take in breathtaking views of the estate – including the English Walled Garden, Rock Garden and Tea Gazebo. This space is often used for showers and small gatherings, and it can even be used for an intimate wedding at Meadow Brook Hall.
The Library
Outstanding examples of Meadow Brook’s woodwork are found in the library. With carvings of great artists, philosophers, writers and composers, guests will feel refined exploring this grand space. They will also be able to sit at the large antique refectory table in the center of the room, where Matilda Dodge Wilson and Alfred Wilson made the historic gift to establish what is now Oakland University.
Michigan Castle and Ballroom
The two-story Gothic-inspired Ballroom at Meadow Brook Hall is a versatile space that can accommodate theatre-style seating, a plethora of guest dining tables, and an open style layout to build as you see fit. It seats 100 guests facing the fireplace or 150 facing the beautiful stained-glass windows, and it is the ideal castle wedding venue in Michigan.
Christopher Wren Dining Room
With an indoor wedding, the dining experience takes place in the exquisite Christopher Wren Dining Room. Fashioned in the Georgian style of famed architect Sir Christopher Wren, who worked in England in the 17th century, this showpiece room encompasses some of the estate’s most masterful features, yet gives an air of simple elegance.
The room can seat 100 guests: 94 in the main room and an additional six in the connected, chinoiserie-style breakfast nook. However, if you have more than 100 guests, we can accommodate them with our strolling wedding reception experience.
After dinner, dance the night away in the grand two-story ballroom, just like the automotive aristocracy did in the early twentieth century.
Service Staff Rooms
A popular space for the wedding suite, the Servants’ Rooms offer a unique behind-the-scenes view of Meadow Brook Hall. The spaces consist of three rooms that are connected: the Servant’s Dining Room, the Servant’s Sitting Room and the Servant’s Porch. Each has been restored to the original 1940s style and offers rare views of life for the staff wing of the estate – spaces not many people are granted access to.
The Loggia Porch
The Loggia Porch is set on the south side of the mansion, with views overlooking the Loggia Terrace. Filled with sunlight and comfortable seating, the ornate ceilings, charming carved details and gorgeous stonework make this space a wonderful backdrop for photos and a welcome space for guests to relax.
