Riders up! Get ready for the Kentucky Derby at Meadow Brook Hall. The Tudor-revival style mansion will provide a grand backdrop for a delicious Derby lunch and your most opulent hat.
Guests can enjoy a traditional mint julep with a Meadow Brook twist, along with a short presentation on women’s racing fashion and fascinators by Rachelle Willnus, owner of Derby Hats by Rachelle.
The afternoon will conclude with a self-guided tour of The Hall and a prize for the best hat – a Duo Membership to Meadow Brook!

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Rachelle Willnus will present ‘A History of Hats and Fashion at The Kentucky Derby,’ which will explore the origin of hat wearing at the Kentucky Derby and why the tradition continues to this day. Rachelle will also discuss women’s fashions at the Derby, expectations of Derby attendees, food, drinks, recipes, and more.
Guests will be given copies of food and drink recipes to take home so that they may create their own magical Derby experience, while hosting their own Kentucky Derby Party.
Rachelle creates avante-garde Derby style fascinators that have become popular in Michigan and other parts of the US and abroad. Rachelle will showcase examples of hats and fascinators and well as discuss materials used to make modern day Derby fascinators. Rachelle will also have headpieces for sale with 10% of sales going to Meadow Brook Hall.
