Girl Scout Program Details

Availability: Scout Tours are offered February through October on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Holiday Scout Tours are offered on select Saturdays and Sundays in November and December at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Guest count: Meadow Brook Hall Girl Scout programs are available for a minimum group of 10 scouts. Due to the capacity of the scout room, tours allow for a maximum of 30 guests. The main program takes place in our scout room – which was originally the attic playroom for Frances Dodge. Group size is limited in order to create a high-quality and engaging experience for our Scout Tours in this historic space.

Cost: Meadow Brook Hall Girl Scout programs are $15 per scout and the Youth Tea Party is $18 per scout. This includes the Meadow Brook Patch. Additional Meadow Brook Patches can be purchased for $4 each.

Adult admissions: With the limited capacity of our youth space and nature of our program, a maximum number of two adult chaperones are permitted with each scout group. These two chaperones are complimentary with the 10 paid scout minimum. Parents and additional adults are welcome to explore our grounds or book a self-guided tour ticket during the scout program.

Arrive early: Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your tour to ensure starting and ending on time. Groups that arrive late will have their tour shortened accordingly.

Please note that from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30, we only schedule Holiday Scout Experiences.

About the Programs

Embark on a captivating journey into the world of entertainment at Meadow Brook Hall. Girls will learn and practice party etiquette while discovering the secrets behind hosting events at the estate. The tour includes a brief introduction of the Dodge-Wilson family, entertaining spaces and a snack. This tour is recommended for ages 5-12. Approximately 1.5 hours.

This tour focuses on the Wilson and Dodge children and how life at Meadow Brook Hall in 1929 differs from our own today. What has changed and what has stayed the same? Scouts meet the requirements for the “Making Games Badge” by playing a variety of games, as well as taking home a blank game board so they can create their own. Approximately 1.5 hours. Contributes toward the Brownie Girl Scouts Making Games Badge.

Scouts will be immersed in learning about the life of Frances Dodge and what it was like to grow up as a young girl at Meadow Brook in the 1920s and 30s. We will also cover some of the remarkable accomplishments of Matilda Dodge Wilson, who made great contributions to the community through her philanthropic work. After the tour, girls will take part in an art activity in Frances’ Playroom. Approximately 1.5 hours. Contributes toward Junior Girl Scouts Playing the Past Badge.

If your troop knows our Great Estate like the back of their hands, they’re ready to master it by exploring behind the scenes. Check out the secret passageways and attic level of Meadow Brook Hall in an exclusive tour developed for Girl Scouts only. This tour is intended for the older scout who has been to Meadow Brook before. Approximately 1.5 hours.
