Be part of something special and volunteer at Meadow Brook.

Volunteers are the backbone of Meadow Brook Hall. Our corps of more than 300 volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and represent a wide range of interests, talents and skill sets. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, we invite you to explore our volunteer opportunities and submit a Meadow Brook Hall volunteer application.

Ways to Volunteer

  • Docent guide: Volunteer docents give guided tours of Meadow Brook Hall to guests. Docent guides are trained, certified and have in-depth knowledge of the estate’s history, family and collection.
  • Hosts: This group of volunteers helps with hosting our special events, weddings and large programs. They bring a general knowledge of Meadow Brook Hall and feel comfortable welcoming our guests.
  • Museum Store: The Museum Store and Holiday Shop are open every day we are open to the public. Volunteers are our front line of customer service – keeping the shop welcome and inviting and selling merchandise.
  • Squires: This men’s group helps preserve Meadow Brook by doing maintenance projects, small repairs, holiday decorating and fundraising. They meet monthly and visit other historic sites throughout Michigan. There is a small membership fee to join this group.
  • Meadow Brook Garden Club: The Meadow Brook Garden Club is dedicated to preserving, maintaining and enhancing the gardens at Meadow Brook Hall as a place of enjoyment and learning. Gardening begins in April and continues through October, and the club also offers monthly lecture programs that are open to members and non-members (for a $5 donation). Visit Meadow Brook Garden Club for full details.
  • Naturalists: The Meadow Brook naturalists are a volunteer group dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the woodland areas around Meadow Brook Hall. They are looking for volunteers to help remove invasive plants and plant native trees, shrubs and perennials. Workdays are on the third Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. until noon. Please dress appropriately for working in natural woodland and wetland areas. Close-toed shoes or boots are necessary. Tools will be provided. For more information, call (248) 364-6210 or contact MBGCmembers@gmail.com.
