As a National Historic Landmark and premier event destination, Meadow Brook Hall hosts a wide range of events—from elegant weddings and private celebrations to corporate functions, university events, and signature fundraisers. This position is employed by Continental Cregar’s LLC at Meadow Brook Hall under the terms of the Food and Beverage Services Agreement between Continental Cregar’s LLC and Oakland University.

Position summary: The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing a variety of events across the estate and grounds of Meadow Brook Hall. You will be the primary point of contact for clients once an event is booked, guiding them through all the essential details—from menu selections and timelines to floor plans and vendor coordination. You’ll also provide on-site support during events to ensure a smooth, high-quality experience for every guest.

This is a full-time position that requires flexibility to work evenings and at least two weekends per month based on event scheduling.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead contact for assigned events, managing all pre-event communication and planning.
  • Coordinate meetings, vendor details, and logistical timelines.
  • Develop and distribute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, and timelines according to company standards.
  • Ensure a professional, polished presence on-site during events to oversee execution and assist clients and vendors.
  • Support the sales team with administrative tasks and collaboration on lead follow-up and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and event details using event management software.
  • Lead pre-event planning meetings and attend tasting events as scheduled.
  • Assist with internal events, university functions, and seasonal fundraisers.

Qualifications:

  • Hospitality DNA
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong client service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn event software
  • Comfortable working evenings and 2 weekends a month

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Caterease or Prismm software
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, communications, or a related field
  • Knowledge of event operations and vendor coordination

Meadow Brook is hiring several Facility Operations Associates. This job is currently open.

Position purpose: General museum housekeeping.

Duties and responsibilities: General housekeeping duties include vacuuming, dusting, mopping and general cleaning of event spaces, offices and restrooms. Meadow Brook Hall is a historic house museum and National Historic Landmark, therefore, additional duties include cleaning of the historical objects and spaces. Collections care training will be provided.

Qualifications: HS graduation or equivalent combination of education & experience. Perform physically active work including vacuuming, dusting, mopping & general cleaning of event spaces, offices rooms & restrooms. Must be able to lift 40lbs. A physical will be required to verify the applicants’ ability to perform the duties of the position. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, have a valid vehicle operator’s license & driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.

Schedule: This is a casual position working up to 19 hours per week. Some weekend hours required.

Position purpose: The facility operations team is responsible for the physical care and maintenance of the building and the preparation of rooms, event spaces and grounds for all programming at Meadow Brook Hall.

Duties and responsibilities: Set up and break down of tables, chairs, AV equipment, light housekeeping and general oversight of museum operations during events.

Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to perform physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting to perform various cleaning and set-up tasks. Frequent lifting, requiring the execution of up to 60 pounds of force to move and use supplies and use cleaning aids. Ability to lift and move furniture and event equipment. Ability to work independently. Completion of a physical to verify the applicant’s ability to perform the duties of the position. Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Position purpose: Security of Meadow Brook Hall buildings, grounds and collections

Duties and responsibilities: Responsibilities include security of the building, grounds and collections during facility rental events. This position is responsible for closing/securing the building at the conclusion of events.

Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, experience or background in security, law enforcement or related field. Knowledge of or willingness to learn methods of proper art object handling and security of historic buildings and interiors. Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
