Meadow Brook Hall is set to celebrate springtime with a series of engaging and whimsical events in the house and grounds of the National Historic Landmark, located on the campus of Oakland University. Featured events include the family-friendly Breakfast with the Bunny, the entertaining Derby Day at The Hall, the charming Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon and the elegant afternoon Garden Tea.
Breakfast with the Bunny will delight children of all ages with a visit with the Easter Bunny, strolling magician, a bunny craft and activity book, Easter egg hunt stations and self-guided tour of Meadow Brook and breakfast in the Grand Ballroom. The event runs from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. Reservations are Adults (age 14+): $40 for adults over age 14, $35 for children 3-13, $20 for children 2 and under with a meal and free for children 2 and under without a meal. Derby Day at The Hall celebrates horse racing fashion with mint juleps—with a Meadow Brook twist—lunch, self-guided touring of Meadow Brook, a presentation on derby fashion and a prize for the best hat. The event runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1. Tickets are $55 each and can be reserved at meadowbrookhall.org/derby-day-at-the-hall.
Treat your mother to an exquisite three-course Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon at the Great Estate. This lovely lunch will include wine service as well classical entertainment performed by a harpist, a self-guided tour of The Hall and a flower for Mom. The event runs from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Tickets are $65 and can be reserved at meadowbrookhall.org/pre-mothers-day-luncheon.
Spend an afternoon among the lush landscapes of the Great Estate and enjoy a lovely Garden Tea in Meadow Brook Hall’s Garden Tent. The afternoon includes sweet and savory food stations, Broadway-themed musical entertainment performed by a harpist and a self-guided garden tour. The event runs from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. Meadow Brook Hall is the historic home built by one of the automotive aristocracy’s most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of auto pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, Alfred Wilson. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, Meadow Brook Hall represents one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival style architecture in America, and is especially renowned for its superb craftsmanship, architectural detailing and grand scale of 88,000 square-feet. It was the center of a country estate that included 1,500 acres, numerous farm buildings, recreational facilities, several residences and formal gardens. Named a National Historic Landmark in 2012, Meadow Brook Hall strives to preserve and interpret its architecture, landscape, and fine and decorative art so that visitors may be entertained, educated and inspired by history.
