We sat down with Shelby, an Event Stylist from Luxe Event Linen, to learn what Luxe Event Linens offer clients and what she loves to see at Meadow Brook Hall!
Introduce yourself!
Hi! My name is Shelby and I am the Event Stylist at Luxe Event Linen. Ever since joining the Luxe team, I have gained a HUGE appreciation for the wedding industry and the importance for details! I have a degree in Event Management from Central Michigan University; I started working with weddings when I was 16, and immediately knew this is the industry I’m supposed to be in.
Crystal Watkins & Colleen Galacz, the co-owners of Luxe Event Linen, both have degrees from Central Michigan University in Apparel Merchandising and Design. They have owned and operated Luxe Event Linen for 14 years, and they are proud to continue to offer trend-leading, high quality products and exceptional customer service to all clients.
What services does Luxe Event Linen provide clients?
Luxe provides a wide range of services for event rentals. We carry Chiavari, Infinity, Farm and Dior Chairs; linens; napkins; farm tables & benches; chargers; draping; custom details; and more! We work with events of all sizes. Whether it’s a dinner party, a corporate party, or a wedding – we are on it!
You carry such an incredible range of products. How do clients select what will fit their style? Can you help with that?
We want to make everyone’s wedding vision come to life! We always encourage our clients to bring in any inspiration pictures or swatches so we can assist with finding the style for them. In our showroom, we have tables, lighting, and china to lay out so we can view all the different linen, chair, charger, and napkin options. We play around with the large selection until we have brought your vision to life.
We take into account the time of the year, as well as your venue and all other design elements, to style the perfect table setting. We will recommend the simplest of style changes to make your event just a bit different from the rest. Sometimes, just the way the napkin is folded can be the finishing detail to a design. The styling is our favorite part of the process!
What needs to be decided right away, and what can wait until closer to the big day?
Chairs, chairs, chairs! Our chair inventory goes like hot cakes. We offer packages which include chairs and linens. The best part about packages is that the only decision the couple has to make is the chair style and color. With that choice made, you can reserve us for your event but don’t have to nail down a time to come in right away. From there, once a couple is ready to select their linens and custom details, we’ll have them back in!
What are some of your favorite designs you’ve seen at MBH?
We love to see a client bring in mixed materials into the design with wooden farm tables for the Bridal party and Family tables, surrounded by round tables, designed in a romantic feel. Blush and Ivory Velvet linens mixed with appliqued and embroidered linens really pull the look together.
Bringing in vintage soft seating for the bride and groom’s table add that extra detail. The most popular chairs rented for MBH are the Gold Chiavari and the Farm House Chairs.
We love to see the Clear Chiavari Chairs used too as it allows the details in the table design to really stand out, especially when your overall look is modern and uses charger plates, napkins rings, and a colored chair pad.
How do you make sure that all of your rentals are clean and ready for each and every event?
Our warehouse staff is AMAZING and has been with us for the 14 years that we have been in business! The ‘behind the scenes’ is truly incredible. We wash and press all of the linens in-house in our 9,000 square foot facility. When we press the linens, we check for any damages or stains. If we find a linen that has had a little more ‘love’ than the rest, we remove it from our inventory and use it for samples. We have gained a reputation for the care that we put into the maintenance and preparation of our rentals.
