Tiffany Glass: John Dodge as Patron
May 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
In the early 20th century, John and Matilda Dodge, like many industrialists of the time, were significant patrons of Louis Comfort Tiffany and his world-renowned “art glass.” Tiffany Studios glass chandeliers, sconces, lamps, vases and even cabinets filled their Detroit home and Tiffany Studios designed the Dodge’s never-completed Grosse Pointe estate. Meadow Brook Hall Director of Curatorial Services Madelyn Rzadkowolski will explore the family’s deep connection with Tiffany, the extensive collection and how and why the legendary glass was moved to the family’s country estate, but no longer displayed with prominence. This lecture is a part of the Smart Towns program.
