"You did an extraordinary job working with us over the last year to put together what was admittedly one of the most important days in our daughter's life. From the time we began the ceremony to the end of the last dance, things just happened as they were planned. A pretty amazing feat when it involves almost 200 people. The wedding far exceeded our expectations in this regard; and, I can honestly say, we wouldn't change a thing!"

Pegasus Garden
Traditionally known as the Breakfast Garden because of its location off the Breakfast Room, this formal garden is enclosed with brick walls and is one of our most popular spots for a wedding ceremony. The niche in the north wall contains a mythological sculpture called The Golden Fleece; and opposite, a curved stone bench provides a picturesque view of the garden and is a perfect spot for your musicians.

Created by Avard Fairbanks, the Colt Pegasus sculpture was first exhibited at the North American Flower Show in 1946. The sculpture came to the attention of Matilda Wilson who commissioned it to be cast in bronze and installed in the fountain making it a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

The bridal party processes down the flagstone walkway from the Breakfast Room toward the Pegasus Fountain. The fountain will be on until the bride reaches her groom and the ceremony begins. White garden chairs are set theater style on either side of the walkway.

Rock Garden
A possible site for your wedding ceremony is the Rock Garden, a magnificent combination of open space, floral gardens, and old-world charm. The outcropping of sandstone rocks are carefully position onto the hillside, and planted into their crevices are cascading drifts of perennials, alpine species and dwarf conifers. The Rock Garden is bordered on one side with the original brick wall, gazebo and fountain and is both expansive and intimate depending on the setting you choose for you ceremony.

Garden Tent
For larger wedding receptions, the Garden Tent is available from mid May through mid October. Positioned on the expanse of lawn south of the Pegasus Garden, the majestic white tent has become Meadow Brook Hall's symbol of summer wedding magic.

The all weather structure is 60' x 120' and can accommodate up to 325 guests. A beautiful white pleated ceiling liner softens the atmosphere in the tent, while removable wall panels with French windows complete this lovely structure. The tent also features chandelier lighting that can be dimmed to a romantic glow for dinner and dancing. A brick walkway from the Loggia Terrace and hard floor surface in the tent ensure that ladies never have to walk in the grass in their designer shoes!

The Ballroom at Meadow Brook Hall is the perfect location for smaller, intimate indoor ceremonies and is used as the rain back-up site for outdoor wedding ceremonies. It seats 100 facing the fireplace or 150 facing the beautiful second story stained glass windows. The smaller wedding events (under 100) use the Ballroom for dancing after dinner in the Christopher Wren Dining Room.

Dining Room
With an indoor wedding, the dining experience takes place in the breathtaking Christopher Wren Dining Room. Giuseppe Corrado Parducci, the renowned Detroit sculptor, designed and articulated the elaborate plaster ceiling after 18th century designs by Christopher Wren, the champion of the Neo-Classical period. Though styled after the work of this architect, the final result is completely unique.

After mingling on the main level of Meadow Brook Hall during Cocktail Hour, dinner chimes will call your guests into the Christopher Wren dining room for a spectacular seated meal. The room can seat 100 guests, 94 in the main room and an additional 6 in the connected, chinoiserie-style Breakfast Nook. Your guests will be blown away by the intricate plaster ceiling, detailed woodwork, and sophistication of this room.

If your wedding has more than 100 guests, no problem! The Wilson's never limited a party, but built a house to accommodate all of their friends and family. Follow their example and spread your guests between the Library, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson's private studies, and the Sunporch; your guests will have an intimate meal and a different story to tell when everyone reconvenes. With an indoor wedding, the bride will follow the tradition of Frances Dodge and make her Grand Entrance down our stunning main staircase. Toasts and speeches will be given below, in the Great Hall, where your guests will be watching in awe.
