Fine art exhibition, brick & mortar

August 15 to September 15
Located in the Family Garage
(No additional charge for paying guests.)

A fine art exhibition, “Brick & Mortar”, will be on display in the Family Garage at Meadow Brook Hall from August 15 through September 15, 2012.

The exhibit was co-curated by Richard Haley & Cody VanderKaay, in partnership with Meadow Brook Hall. Visitors will view sculpture, photography and drawings created by Metro Detroit artists, some who are Oakland University faculty. “All of the work will be quite diverse visually, but was made in conversation with Meadow Brook’s 2012 Architecture theme,” explained co-curator and artist Richard Haley.

Artworks on view blend notions of decadence, shelter and privacy. The group of artists is split between Michigan natives and recent transplants– offering a survey of viewpoints on the subject at hand. The differentiating backgrounds of the exhibiting artists provide visitors with 7 unique viewpoints to this regional phenomenon. The exhibiting artists are: Corrie Bauldauf, Amy Feigley, Richard Haley, David Lambert, Julie Prokop, Chris Lee and Cody VanderKaay.

“Brick & Mortar” opens Wednesday, August 15 and concludes with a closing reception on Thursday, September 15. Visitors can view the exhibit as part of their tour of The Hall. Now through September 2 tours are offered daily at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. After Labor Day tours will be Monday through Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 11:30a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
