Choosing your wedding vendors: Featuring Emerald City Designs

There are so many options when it comes to finding the right vendors to work with on your wedding day. It’s important to work with companies you are compatible with – from personalities, to style, to budget. A great starting point is to ask your venue for suggestions, because they can recommend companies who are reliable, have a good reputation, and are already familiar with your venue.

Meadow Brook Hall has a list of wedding vendors we recommend, including florists, rental companies, musicians, bakeries, hotels, and more. Emerald City Designs is one of these preferred vendors! We shared our interview with them below so you can get to know what they do and how they work with wedding couples.

What services does Emerald City Designs (ECD) provide clients?

Emerald City Designs is a full-service special event company. We provide fresh floral designs, rentals such as tablecloths, charger plates, chairs, candle details, lounge furniture, draping, and lighting. We also have an Art Department that creates custom stationery from save the dates to invitations and any paper details for the day of the event such as place cards, seating charts, and menu cards. Finally, we have a planning team that can assist with full service event planning or day-of coordination.

What should clients expect of ECD for their wedding?

At Emerald City Designs, we pride ourselves in being a one-stop shop. We enjoy handling all details for the client so they are not working with multiple vendors and then having to piece everything together. They can relax and know that one vendor is managing all aspects of the wedding. We arrive in uniform to set up the ceremony and reception, handle any transfers of items from one event to the next, and return at the end of the evening to take everything down. And the most important thing – we truly listen to your needs and wants. It’s truly a seamless process working with ECD for your event!

How do you get to know a couple’s style?

There are a series of appointments that go into designing the couple’s wedding day. We enjoy getting to know the couple’s style by hearing how they met and what they like to do for fun. Even getting to know where they like to dine out, shop, or vacation helps us get to know their personality and style. The wedding should truly reflect the couple as a pair and we love adding personal touches throughout the day to showcase that.

What is the process when booking ECD?

A potential client would come into our showroom for a complimentary consultation. At this appointment, they would sit down with one of our Event Managers to put together a custom Wish List based on what they are looking for. Our showroom has several tables on display to view with fresh floral designs and our rentals showcased. Once a contract is signed, the clients would meet with a member of our design team to further develop the Wish List. The final appointment in the process is a Table Preview. At this appointment, the clients come back to the showroom to see an exact replica of their table(s) for the reception.

What are some of your favorite designs you’ve seen at Meadow Brook Hall?

We absolutely love the Garden Tent at Meadow Brook Hall. It’s a beautiful blank canvas that we have decorated with over the top designs as well as simplistic, more minimal florals. It looks absolutely lovely both ways! [See the photos throughout this post for some of their favorites!]

Thanks Emerald City Designs for sitting down with us to give us some insight! If you are interested in booking them for your wedding or other event, visit their website at emeraldcitydesigns.com.
